They begin an intense passionate affair and he follows her back to her native island of St. Trinity. She believes her soul was stolen during a voodoo ceremony and only another voodoo ceremony can retrieve it for her. Michael Ahearn finds himself thrust into a world of corruption, smuggling, political intrigue, ritual, and superstition. This is a novel that has gathered mixed reviews, but the New York Times says that author Robert Stone "gives us another wild ride."
