Blackwood Farm: The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice
Anne Rice has spent the last twenty years writing about vampires and witches, and in Blackwood Farm, she brings her two main themes together. Once again set in the bayous of Louisiana and the city of New Orleans, this is the story of Tarquin, a vampire who is heir to Blackwood Farm. He is constantly accompanied by a supernatural doppleganger named Goblin whose increasing powers alarm him, so he seeks the advice of the most powerful vampire, Lestat. He recounts his woeful tale to Lestat, including falling in love with Mona, the youngest and most powerful of the Mayfair witches. Anne Rice is not everybody's cup of tea, and you probably can't read this book without reading its predecessors first. The good news is that many reviewers think this book is comparable to the quality of her earliest books (Interview with a Vampire and The Vampire Lestat), so this is good news for her legions of fans.
