Blessings by Anna Quindlen
In Anna Quindlen's fourth novel, a baby is abandoned on the porch of Lydia Blessing's estate. The baby is found by the ex-con handyman, Skip Cuddy, and Lydia decides to help him keep the baby. The baby, named Faith, becomes the catalyst for the softening of the rigid Lydia as she re-examines her life and the start of a new life for Skip. This is a sentimental novel with few surprises. The Denver Post says of Blessings, "Quindlen's writing is wonderfully nuanced, and Blessings is an engaging and moving story."
