Casanova In Bolzano by Sandor Marai
This book is titled Conversations In Bolzano in Europe
Casanova In Bolzano is the second novel of Hungarian author Sandor Marai to be translated into English. His begins his novel in 1756 when Casanova escaped from a Venice prison and made his way to Bolzano. The local populace is excited by this self-confident and seductive man, but Balzano is also where he finds the Duke of Parma. Years before he has lost a duel to the duke over the beautiful Francesca. The Duke spared his life as long as he never returned to Balzano again, otherwise the Duke would kill Casanova himself. Instead of killing him, however, the Duke has an offer which involves his wife. Francesca, now a woman instead of the girl he remembered, may have an agenda of her own. Casanova In Bolzano has received positive reviews with the Washington Post saying, "Casanova In Bolzano is at once erotic in its texture and sense of longing, witty in its observation about the human condition and, on top of everything else, great fun to read."
