Christ the Lord: The Road to Cana by Anne Rice
Christ the Lord: The Road to Cana is Anne Rice's second book (following Christ The Lord: Out of Egypt) in her story about the life of Jesus Christ. The Road to Cana begins with Yeshua bar Joseph (Jesus) a bachelor at age 30 and he's dealing with a longing for one of his kinswomen and hearing the rumors about himself. It's a time of tensions between the Jewish community and the Roman occupiers. Yeshua's cousin John begins baptizing people, so Yeshua and the rest of the family go to be baptized. After suffering through the temptations of Satan in the desert, Yeshua heads for the wedding in Cana. It is there he performs his first miracle, transforming the water into wine, signifying he is the anointed one of prophecies. Christ the Lord: The Road to Cana has received mostly positive reviews with BookReporter.com saying, "Rice has boldly stepped into territory that most people are familiar with and achieved another novel that goes to great lengths to humanize Yeshua while at the same time documenting his rise to realizing his own destiny as the Chosen One."
