Cinnamon Kiss by Walter Mosley
Cinnamon Kiss is set in 1967 and Easy Rawlins is desperate for money to pay for medical care for his daughter, Feather. He's giving serious thought to Mouse's idea to rob an armored car, when he's offered a job to track a missing man, the man's girlfriend named Cinnamon, and some papers they might have with them. The trail leads Easy to San Francisco during the summer of love, and he's intrigued by the hippies lifestyle and their ideas of equality and community. Discovering a corpse and some Nazi parephenalia leads to a plot that goes back to World War II, and the suspect could be the man who hired Easy. It's another challenge for Easy, along with dealing with family issues and recurring temptations. Cinnamon Kiss has received positive reviews with the Detroit Free Press saying, "With every book Mosley gets better, and Cinnamon Kiss is one of his best. Read it."
