Damned by Chuck Palahniuk

In Damned, 13-year-old Madison has gone to hell, due to an overdose of marijuana. Or at least that's her claim. She quickly discovers that nobody in hell gives the real reason for their eternal damnation. Madison is the daughter of a Hollywood power couple and she's used to getting her way. Hell, though, is a place where The English Patient plays constantly, the only work available is either in porn or call centers, and it has a desert of dandruff and a mountain of toenail clippings. But hell hasn't dealt with anyone like Madison before. Chuck Palahniuk's novel has received mostly positive reviews with the Washington Post saying, "Yes, the story's a little thin, a bit gross and Madison's straw-man parents back on Earth make easy targets, but this is a winning and funny book, and near the end, when Maddie seems to be ascending toward a sequel (Purgatory, anyone?), you'll likely want to read that one, too."
