Dead Sexy by Kathy Lette
Kathy Lette is back one more time with another book making fun of the battle between the sexes, full of her offbeat humor and quiplashes. In Dead Sexy, Shelly Green is a music teacher entered in a reality television show by her students called "Desperate and Dateless" and she must marry the co-winner, an American named Kit Kinkade to claim the prizes of an exotic honeymoon trip and a large amount of cash. Shelly is averse to marriage, and Kit seems duplicitous and sleazy. At least he's dead sexy. The honeymoon starts out badly and deteriorates as a hurricane, volcanic eruption, and terrorists make their trip an increasingly difficult challenge. Kathy Lette's humor of one-liners and caustic remarks is not everyone's cup of tea, and Dead Sexy has received mixed reviews. The Advertiser says, "In the midst of all the witticisms and lusty soft porn, Lette sneaks in windows of the most exquisite prose, showing that there is much more to her than idle chick chat."
