Frustrated, Dexter lays low, hanging out with his fake girlfriend and spending time with her son, who shows some of the same predilections. He's back in the game when his sister, a police detective, needs his help with a new serial killer who slowly mutilates his victims to death. Jeff Lindsay's sequel is a return to its dark, macabre humor and unique protagonist.
Dearly Devoted Dexter has received mostly positive reviews with the Miami Herald saying, "Perhaps the best trick in this fascinating and entertaining novel is that readers may find Dexter endearing.
