Death Comes to Pemberley by P. D. James
Death Comes to Pemberley begins six years after the end of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam Darcy live with their two children at the Pemberley estate. Elizabeth's sister Jane and her husband are at the estate helping to plan the autumn ball and discussing the marriage prospects for Darcy's sister, Georgiana. Elizabeth's sister, Lydia, arrives, crying hysterically that her husband, Wickham, has been murdered. P. D. James' novel has received mostly positive reviews with the Washington Post saying, "P. D. James is now in her 90s, but one need make no allowance for age to enjoy Death Comes to Pemberley. It is a solidly entertaining period mystery and a major treat for any fan of Jane Austen."
