Home by Toni Morrison
In Home, Frank Money is a black veteran of the Korean War and is haunted by the loss of friends and his experiences during the war. He finds that his sister's life is in danger back in Georgia. Even though Frank served in the newly integrated army, his cross country trip to save his sister involves traveling through racist America. Frank knows he must tread lightly in dangerous places to preserve his own life. If he makes it to Georgia, he must get his sister back to their hometown, a place Frank he has avoided for his adult life. Toni Morrison's novella has received positive reviews with the San Antonio Express-News saying, "The writing is easy and flowing but still elegantly constructed. And it doesn't settle for easy answers. We do not know if and how Frank and his sister will ever find redemption. In the end, we only know that home is a good place to start."
