Jericho's Fall by Stephen L. Carter

Jericho's Fall finds Jericho Ainsley, ex-director of the CIA and Wall Street power broker, dying from cancer at his Colorado retreat. His dying request is to have a visit from Rebecca "Beck" DeForde, a young woman he a torrid affair with fifteen years earlier. Beck's arrival at the compound is met with violence and chaos, where friend and foe are hard to tell apart, including Jericho's daughters who are tending to their father's final days. In a career among the rich and powerful, Jericho has collected explosive secrets and there are those who want to uncover them before he dies and others who want to make sure they die with him. It's up to Beck to do the right thing. Stephen L. Carter's novel has received mostly positive reviews with the Denver Post saying, "Carter brings the reader to a blazing final confrontation, as surprising as it is inevitable. It's a conclusion that is satisfying and right, a perfect ending to an intricate roller coaster of a summer read."
