Leonardo by Martin Kemp
Leonardo is art historian Martin Kemp's nonfiction book to explain, not necessarily the details of his life, but rather the details of his art. Leonardo only finished 20 paintings during his life, but he also spent much of his time exploring arts and sciences and how they can be combined together. The book contains all his paintings and many of his sketches and Martin Kemp tries to explain and understand the process that Leonardo used for each of his paintings. It's an attempt to meld the forces behind his life and his artwork so that we can all understand and appreciate the genius behind them all. Leonardo has received positive reviews with the Seattle Times saying, "Martin Kemp tried to write an honest book about Leonardo that was still a page-turner. He succeeded. And if the pages of Leonardo don't turn quite as quickly as those of The Da Vinci Code, well, so be it.
