The Litigators by John Grisham
In The Litigators, David Zinc is a Harvard graduate and lawyer when an anxiety attack and drunken stupor puts an end to his career with a large, downtown Chicago law firm. He ends up on the doorstep of Finley & Figg, a law firm with two lowbrow lawyers who handle quickie divorces, DUIs, and chase ambulances. David begs them for a job. His new firm hears of a class action lawsuit against a drug company whose high cholesterol medicine is causing strokes and heart attacks. If they can find some local citizens to be part of the suit, they could reap a large payday with little work. David soon learns, though, that his old firm is representing the drug company. John Grisham's novel has received mixed reviews with the Washington Post saying, "So if you’re a Grisham apostate, now might be the time to get reacquainted. And this snappy, well-turned novel might be a good place to start."
