Love Me by Garrison Keillor
In Garrison Keillor's Love Me, Larry Wyler is an aspiring writer in St. Paul, Minnesota who has big dreams of success. When his novel becomes a bestseller, he leaves for the high life of New York City. His wife, however, refuses to go with him and tells him to come home once he's gotten New York out of his system. When his second novel is a flop and writer's block becomes a way of life, Larry takes a job at the New Yorker. He still feels like an outsider of the literary inner circles, and after losing his job and his royalties dry up, he comes back to Minnesota. There he pens an advice to the lovelorn column while finding again the love and life that he had left behind. Love Me has received mostly positive reviews. The Washington Post says, "In its revelation of what it means to be a human being in our gloriously absurd day and age, Love Me is Garrison Keillor's funniest and most ambitious novel to date."
