My Last Movie Star by Martha Sherrill
In My Last Movie Star, Clementime James is a jaded journalist doing one last celebrity interview before retiring to a country farm. Her subject is Allegra Coleman, a beautiful, up-and coming starlet. While out on a drive together, Allegra crashes the car and disappears, leaving the injured Clementine behind. Roles suddenly change as Clementine becomes the celebrity as the last person to have seen Allegra. This sets the stage for a sometimes hilarious parody of Hollywood, fame, and celebrity. The USA Today calls My Last Movie Star "surprisingly insightful and intelligent."
