The Narrows by Michael Connelly
The Narrows begins with dual plot lines. FBI agent Rachel Walling, banished to a backwater FBI office after her boss was identified as the serial killer known as The Poet, is called back to regular duty to help examine a mass grave of bodies that is apparently the work of the supposedly dead Poet. Harry Bosch is called by Terry Caleb's widow. Terry, a heart-transplant recipient, is murdered when someone tampers with his medication. Unsurprisingly, both Harry's and Rachel's cases merge into one, and the chase to find The Poet is on. Michael Connelly's novel brings back several characters from his previous mysteries, and The Narrows has received positive reviews. The Toronto Globe and Mail says, "The Narrows is an intelligent, tautly written thriller, and should only serve to heighten Connelly's already exalted stature as one of today's leading crime writers."
