Revenge of the Middle-Aged Woman tells the story of 48-year old Rose Lloyd, who is comfortable in her 25-year marriage and as the books editor of a London newspaper. Then she loses her husband and her job to a younger woman. Devastated and alone, she has to find a new way to get through life. Edna Buchan takes a different approach to the revenge novel. Instead of retaliating against her husband, Rose leaves him to the devices of the younger woman and ultimately finds the wisdom of maturity and the love of friends to build a better life for herself. It's a novel getting some mixed reviews, but the USA Today calls Revenge of the Middle-Aged Woman "delightfully dishy."
