The Sherlockian by Graham Moore
The Sherlockian tells two different stories. The first is set in Victorian England where Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, having recently killed off his famous fictional detective Sherlock Holmes and upsetting most of England in the process, is investigating the case of a fan who had sent him a letter bomb. The second story is set in present day, where Harold White is invited to join the Baker Street Irregulars. They are expecting the unveiling of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's missing diary when the man who claimed to possess it is murdered and the diary goes missing. Harold White gets drawn into the mystery of the murder and missing diary. Graham Moore's novel has received mostly positive reviews with the South Florida Sun Sentinel saying, "Moore deftly alternates The Sherlockian between his two heroes, and Doyle would be proud of his ingenious book. So would Holmes."
