State of Denial: Bush at War, Part III by Bob Woodward
State of Denial is Bob Woodward's third novel about the Bush administration and its war on terror. In this book, Woodward peels back the levels of secrecy and misinformation from the White House to show an administration that has lied to the public, to the Congress, and even to itself in its steadfast determination to claim that they are winning the War in Iraq. He shows government documents that contradict official statements and describes an administration at war with itself at times. The result is a government losing the hearts and minds of the people while staggering forward with the same claims of potential victory on the horizon. State of Denial has received mostly positive reviews with the Washington Post saying, "In fact, it is the angriest book Woodward has written since his first, All the President's Men. Like that masterpiece, State of Denial feels all the more outraged for its measured, nonpartisan tones and relentless reporting. It is nothing less than a watershed."
