Frank McCourt follows his previous memoirs, (
Angela's Ashes,
'Tis) with another memoir,
Teacher Man. He tells the story of his 30 years as a high school English teacher, yet who didn't like the prescribed curriculum and often tangled with administrators. He found himself yearning for his students respect, telling them stories of his past, and coming up with creative assignments and field trips. In doing so, he became the popular, and easy, teacher all the students wanted.
Teacher Man has received positive reviews with the Washington Post calling it a "beguiling, moving, troubling story."
