One of the most aggravating things about surfing the internet are pop up and pop under ads. Not only are they annoying, but if you're on a dial-up connection or an older computer, your phone line and processor are chewing up valuable time trying to display these ads, instead of the web page you wanted to see. Some of the worst offenders for displaying these ads are some of the newspaper web sites whose reviews we link to often on this site. We are constantly surfing the web, reading reviews, and closing pop up and pop under windows. We're also heavy users of search engines, especially Google.
There are many pop up blockers you can buy, with different degrees of quality and efficacy of closing these ad windows. Some close windows you want to open, and aren't easily turned on and off. Google has come out with a free solution that we've been using for a while and we really like it. It's stopped 99% of the ad windows, and not once has it closed a window we wanted opened. All you have to do is download the Google toolar. Once you download it, the toolbar installs into your web browser and displays itself under the address bar, like shown below:

Not only does the Toolbar make it easier to use Google (just type your search pattern into the box and off you go), but the new pop up blocker works well and is easy to use. Just click on the icon above the arrow to turn this feature on and off, or you can do it via the options button toward the right edge of the toolbar. So visit the Google link below and read all about it. If you install the toolbar and don't like it, you can always uninstall it later. We're really happy with it, and we hope it helps make reading the review links we've posted here a more enjoyable experience for you.
