She's 40, still fit and attractive and the administrative director for the university's Center for the Humanities. Her husband, Alan, is in his early 50s and suffering from a debilitating back injury. Jane has tried to nurse and pamper him, but Alan draws away from her. When Delia Delaney, a bestselling writer and the newest celebrity at the center, takes an interest in Alan, he's quick to have an affair with her. Untrustworthy of any of Delia's motives, the lonely Alison finds herself falling into Henry Hull's affectionate arms. Set against the petty squabbles, politics, and foibles of academia, this foursome must face the consequences of their actions.
