Villa Incognito by Tom Robbins

On a mountaintop in Laos lives a group of ex-American Air Force pilots who went missing during the Vietnam War and never wanted to be found again. Villa Incognito can only be reached by helicopter or by a high wire stretched across the chasm. In the valley below lives off-season circus performers who sometimes ferry visitors across the chasm via the high wire. Madame Ko travels the world with circus troupe which includes Tanukis, strange dog-like creatures who love food and seducing women. Anyone who's ever read a Tom Robbins novel knows that trying to describe the plot is useless, and Villa Incognito is typical Tom Robbins. The Seattle Times says "this novel should delight his legions of fans. He may be preaching to the choir, but as sermons go, it's an exhilarating and wacky ride."
