We Are All Fine Here by Mary Guterson
Julia, the woman at the center of Mary Guterson's We Are All Fine Here, is depressed about her stagnant marriage, her insolent teenage son, rotten job, and she's worried that her husband might be having an affair with a young, attractive coworker. Her solution was a quick tryst with a free-spirited old boyfriend. When she's pregnant soon after that, she doesn't know whether the old boyfriend or her husband is the father. Julia finds herself forced to confront her self-obsessed world and give up fantasy for reality. Mary Guterson's breezy and humorous novel about the common theme of suburban married life has received mostly positive reviews with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram saying, "We Are All Fine Here is never judgmental, always irreverent, a sardonic, gimlet-eyed look at life at its messiest, the way most of us live it whether we mean to or not."
