The Widows of Eastwick is John Updike's sequel to
The Witches of Eastwick. The three witches, Alexandra, Jane, and Sukie, have long since left Eastwick, remarried, and have been widowed. At first they each travel to remote spots on earth to try to cope with their solitude and grief. Eventually, they decide to return as a group to Eastwick. There they find remnants of their previous lives, including children they had left behind, and they're not particularly welcome. Perhaps the biggest challenge to them, though, may be their own aging bodies which don't always comply with their wishes.
The Widows of Eastwick has received mixed reviews with the Miami Herald saying, "There is magic in his Eastwick revisited, and realism, too. Sometimes in the same paragraph."
